Move For Your Prostate Health

By - Ted Escobedo 2 hours ago   1 min read

You can’t exercise your way to a guarantee against prostate cancer, but staying physically active is one of the best things you can do for your overall health. Research continues to explore the relationship between exercise and prostate cancer, while we already know that regular activity helps control weight, improves cardiovascular health and supports healthy aging.

1. Aim for 150 minutes a week.
Work toward at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity each week. Brisk walking counts. So go cycling, go swimming, do some yard work and any other activity that gets you moving and raises your heart rate.
2. Don’t ignore the scale.
Excess body weight, particularly obesity, has been associated with an increased risk of aggressive or advanced prostate cancer. Exercise combined with healthy eating can help you maintain a healthier weight.
3. Don’t Wait To “get in shape.”
If it has been a while since you exercised, start small. A 10- or 15-minute walk is a perfectly good beginning. Increase the time and intensity as your fitness improves.
