Move to Lower Your Risk

By - Ted Escobedo 1 hour ago   1 min read

Regular physical activity does more than strengthen your heart and muscles. Research has consistently linked greater physical activity with a lower risk of endometrial cancer, the most common type of uterine cancer. Exercise also helps with another important risk factor: maintaining a healthy weight.

1. AIM FOR 150 MINUTES A WEEK.
Work toward 150–300 minutes of moderate activity each week. Brisk walking, cycling, swimming, dancing and even active yard work count. You don't have to do it all at once.
2. SIT LESS DURING THE DAY.
Look for opportunities to get up and move. Take a short walk, use the stairs or stand and stretch when you've been sitting for a long time. An active lifestyle doesn't begin and end at the gym.
3. LET MOVEMENT HELP MANAGE YOUR WEIGHT.
Excess body weight is one of the strongest modifiable risk factors for endometrial cancer. Regular exercise combined with healthy eating can help you maintain a healthier weight.
