Dehydration can affect your mood

By - Ted Escobedo 1 day ago   1 min read

Dehydration can affect dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain, which are crucial for mood regulation. Even mild dehydration can lead to higher levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, which contributes to feelings of anxiety.

Your brain is approximately 80% water, so dehydration disrupts its delicate balance affecting mood regulation, focus, and decision-making. Studies show that even mild dehydration can impair attention, short-term memory, and the ability to concentrate.
Dehydration can also make you moody. Its impact on brain chemistry can make you feel more irritable, tense, and generally out of sorts.
Experts advise to drink plenty of water throughout the day to help regulate your mood and keep your brain functioning optimally.
