Acupuncture for Allergies

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. Some studies have shown that acupuncture may reduce allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes.
The exact mechanism of how acupuncture helps with allergies is not fully understood. However, it is believed that it may:
• Stimulate the release of endorphins, which have anti-inflammatory effects.
• Regulate the immune system.
• Reduce the production of histamine, a chemical that causes allergy symptoms.
• may stimulate the body's immune system, making it more resistant to allergens.
A few small studies have shown promising results, with acupuncture significantly reducing allergy symptoms compared to placebo. However, larger, more rigorous studies have produced inconsistent results.
Acupuncture is generally considered safe when performed by a qualified practitioner. However, some people may experience mild side effects such as bruising, pain, or infection.
