Turmeric smoothie to fight inflammation, allergies

By - Ted Escobedo 17 hours ago   1 min read

This smoothie targets hay fever's sneezes and sniffles. Turmeric's active component, curcumin, may help prevent histamine release, which could reduce allergy symptoms. Mango, high in antioxidant vitamin C, can help lower high histamine levels that often lead to congestion. Hemp seeds are a good source of magnesium, also thought to be useful in controlling allergic reactions.

Turmeric is a golden root known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It has a gentle, earthy flavor that pairs well with smoothie favorites like baby carrots, oranges, tangerines, and peaches. Turmeric root is a member of the ginger family, so it’s no surprise we often pair turmeric’s mellow flavor with zesty ground ginger root in a mango-peach smoothie.

Turmeric Smoothie

Blend 1 cup frozen mango, ½ cup canned light coconut milk, ¼ cup water, 1 Tbsp hemp seeds, ½ tsp ginger, ½ tsp turmeric, a handful of ice, and honey to taste (optional).
