Make your health a priority

Women spend a lot of time taking care of other people. Work. Family. Friends. Appointments. Errands. It's surprisingly easy for your own health to end up somewhere near the bottom of the list. This month, move yourself closer to the top.

1. KNOW YOUR OWN RISK.
Age, excess body weight, type 2 diabetes, PCOS, family history, Lynch syndrome and certain hormonal factors can affect endometrial cancer risk. You don't need to figure it out yourself—talk about your personal history with your healthcare provider.
2. DON'T NORMALIZE CHANGES IN YOUR BODY.
You know what's normal for you. If something changes, particularly unexpected vaginal bleeding or spotting, don't dismiss it because you're busy or assume it's “just menopause.”
3. GIVE YOURSELF THE SAME ATTENTION YOU GIVE EVERYONE ELSE.
Make the appointment you've been postponing. Ask the question that's been sitting in the back of your mind. Taking care of yourself isn't taking time away from everyone else.
