World Lung Cancer Day is observed annually on August 1st. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about lung cancer, its causes, prevention, and the importance of early detection. The day also highlights research efforts and the need for better doctor-patient relationships in lung cancer management.
Smoking is the primary risk factor, but environmental factors like asbestos and radon exposure, as well as family history, also play a role. Screening options like low-dose CT scans are available for those at higher risk, like current or former smokers over 55.
