Physical activity and brain health

Exercise sustains and improves bodily health by expanding the lungs, quickening the circulation, and promoting growth in muscles and bones. But we know that besides doing all these things, exercise may be made to contribute to brain growth and to the symmetrical development of the mental faculties.
The best physical exercises for brain health are aerobic activities that get your heart rate up, such as brisk walking, swimming, or cycling. These exercises promote the growth of new brain cells and improve memory and cognitive function. Beyond aerobic exercise, incorporating activities like tai chi, yoga, or even dancing can also be beneficial.
Running, swimming, cycling, and dancing are excellent for brain health because they increase blood flow to the brain, which can stimulate the growth of new brain cells and improve memory and cognitive function.
Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week, which could be brisk walking, swimming, or cycling.
While aerobic exercise is key, incorporating strength training can also benefit brain health by improving nerve-to-muscle pathways and potentially releasing beneficial growth factors, according to studies.
Combine physical activity with mentally stimulating activities like learning a new language, playing games, or reading to challenge your brain and improve cognitive function.
