Schedule Your Mammogram

By - Ted Escobedo 6 hours ago   1 min read

A mammogram doesn't prevent breast cancer—but screening can find breast cancer earlier, when treatment may be more effective.

1. DON'T WAIT FOR A LUMP.
Screening mammograms are meant to look for breast cancer before symptoms appear. Feeling fine isn't a reason to keep putting off the conversation about screening.
2. KNOW WHEN SCREENING IS RIGHT FOR YOU.
Mammogram recommendations can vary according to age and individual risk. Your family history, previous breast findings and other factors may affect what's appropriate for you.
3. PUT IT ON THE CALENDAR.
If you're due for a mammogram, make the appointment. If you're not sure whether you're due, ask your healthcare provider. Either way, one phone call gets the conversation started.
