Tea, berries, dark chocolate and apples could lead to a longer life span

Eating a colorful variety of flavonoid-rich foods like tea, berries, dark chocolate, and apples may significantly lower your risk of chronic diseases and even help you live longer. A major study tracking over 120,000 people for more than a decade found that it's not just the quantity but the diversity of flavonoids that offers the biggest health benefits.
A 10-year study reveals that mixing up your intake of flavonoid-rich foods like berries and dark chocolate is key to better health. As a special summer treat, try this no-cook, flavonoid packed dessert:
Chocolate Berry Bars

Servings: 8 bars
Ingredients
• 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped into small pieces
• 3/4 cup fresh blueberries
• 3/4 cup fresh raspberries
• 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
• 1/4 cup coconut oil
• 2 tablespoons coconut flakes
• 1/4 cup slivered almonds
• 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Directions
• In a medium bowl, add chocolate chips and coconut oil. Melt in microwave in 1-minute increments until melted, stirring in between. Set aside.
• Preheat large skillet on medium heat and add almond and coconut flakes. Toast until golden brown, stirring frequently. Set aside.
• Line 9 x 5 loaf pan with parchment paper and add strawberries, blueberries and raspberries in layers. Sprinkle with toasted almonds and coconut flakes, and chia seeds.
• Drizzle evenly all over with melted chocolate. Tap loaf pan on the counter a few times to help everything to settle.
• Freeze for 7 hours or until fully set.
• Remove loaf pan from the freezer, then holding onto parchment flaps remove onto a cutting board and let thaw for 2-3 minutes or until you can slice through.
• Using serrated knife cut into 8 bars and enjoy!
