When It's 100 Degrees Outside, Eat Like It

During the El Paso summer, staying hydrated is just as important as eating healthy. While most people think of hydration as simply drinking more water, many foods can also help replenish fluids and keep your body feeling its best.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are packed with water, vitamins, and minerals that support overall health. Watermelon, cucumbers, strawberries, oranges, and tomatoes are all excellent choices during hot weather. Not only do they help keep you hydrated, but they also provide nutrients your body needs to function properly.
Summer is also a good time to rethink heavy meals. Large portions of fried or greasy foods can leave you feeling sluggish and uncomfortable when temperatures are high. Instead, consider lighter meals such as salads, grilled chicken, fish, wraps, or fruit-based snacks.
Heat can also increase the risk of dehydration, which may contribute to headaches, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. Keeping a refillable water bottle nearby is a simple habit that can make a big difference. If plain water isn't your favorite, try adding slices of lemon, lime, cucumber, or berries for extra flavor.
