The KETO diet rose in popularity a few years ago and eating a low-carb diet has been proven to help reduce weight. But dieticians believe that eating the right carbs is most important and certainly more sustainable.
Eating processed carbohydrates such as white bread, white rice, potato products, and sugar can drive up insulin levels in the body and lead to weight gain. Experts agree that eating fewer of these unhealthy carbs—more so than cutting calories—can help maintain long-term weight loss.
One key to success is to replace processed carbs with whole fruits and minimally processed grains, while utilizing healthy fats and proteins to balance your diet. Here are a few low-carb snack ideas:
• Apples and cheese
• Peanut butter and celery
• Yogurt and cucumbers
• Nuts
• Turkey roll ups with avocado
• Cottage cheese
