Breakfast is key to keeping your diet

We have all heard that ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day.’ But we may have forgotten why. Here’s a refresher:
Breakfast is important because it:
• Boosts brain power, improves concentration and clears morning brain fog
• Decreases appetite throughout the day which helps to consume less fat throughout the day
• Promotes heart health
• Helps control Type 2 diabetes and balances blood sugar levels
• Boosts your nutrition intake and improves your energy levels
If you don't like traditional breakfast foods, consider lighter options like fruit, yogurt, a smoothie, avocado toast, or even a small portion of leftover dinner, as these can be more appealing and still provide necessary nutrients; essentially, eat something you enjoy that fits a breakfast-like timeframe, even if it's not a typical breakfast food.
Other ideas for breakfast if you dislike traditional breakfast options:
• Fruit and nut butter: Sliced apple, banana, or pear with peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter.
• Yogurt parfait: Greek yogurt layered with fruit and granola
• Smoothie: Blend fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and protein powder for a quick and easy option
• Avocado toast: Toasted whole-grain bread with mashed avocado, sliced tomato, and a sprinkle of salt
• Savory breakfast burrito: Scrambled eggs with cheese, salsa, and black beans wrapped in a tortilla
• Whole-grain cereal with milk and fruit. opt for a less sugary cereal with fresh berries
