Many of us have Aloe plants in our house, so it is easy to overlook some of their unique healing properties. (It’s not just for soothing sunburns or skin irritations) Here are a few uses of the aloe plant:
• Boosts dental health
You can make a natural mouthwash by mixing a few spoons of aloe vera gel in a cup of water. Aloe vera has properties that strengthen your teeth and protect them from damage. It also prevents bad breath.
• Improves stomach health
Aloe vera contains laxative compounds like aloin, aloe-emodin and barbaloin, which keep your bowel movements smooth. Drinking aloe vera juice also helps treat various other digestive disorders like acid reflux, bloating, indigestion, flatulence, and irritable bowel syndrome.
• Soothes asthma
If you are suffering from asthma, you can put some aloe vera gel in boiling water and inhale the steam for immediate relief. The anti-inflammatory compounds reduce inflammation and lower mucus production. People suffering from a sore throat can mix some aloe vera in water and gargle with it three times a day.
• Cleans your pet's ears
If you have a pet, you will know that cleaning their ears can be tricky. Aloe vera gel is the safest way to get the job done. Just apply the gel to your pet's ears and use a clean cloth to wipe it off, along with all the accumulated dirt and grime.
