Move your workout with time change

It can be demoralizing to find that the pleasant afternoon strolls you’ve been accustomed to is now a gloomy trudge through the dark. Shifting your walk, run or bike ride to the morning means you’ll get a dose of direct morning light, which is important for regulating sleeping and waking habits. Your cortisol spikes, giving you energy, and your brain stops producing the sleep hormone melatonin.
If you struggle to switch to a morning workout here are some suggestions:
• Try getting to it right away – before you have time to talk yourself out of it or convince yourself it may be too cold out there and too warm in your bed. Just get up and head out.
• Use breakfast as a motivator. Think about loading up on proteins and ‘smart carbs’ to fuel your work out and head out as quickly as possible after breakfast.
• Tell yourself that once it’s done – it’s done. Now you can go on enjoying your normal workday routine and make the most of your shorter afternoons.
