Many young children get a thrill preparing breakfast for mom on Mother’s Day. Here are some ideas for them (but still need adult supervision.):
• Avocado Toast – This simple dish is totally trendy right now and needs no more kitchen skills than using a toaster. If you want to make it a little fancy, top it with a fried egg and sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
•Overnight Oats – Breakfast prep starts the night before and the presentation is so pretty with NO COOKING REQUIRED! Alternatively, make this breakfast a little more upscale by cooking the oatmeal in the morning and having the kids arrange special toppings for a DIY oatmeal bar for mom.
• Breakfast Sandwich – Put the kids in charge of toasting the croissant or English muffin and assembling the final sandwich. Meanwhile, the grown-up can take charge of the stove-top cooking.
• Yogurt Parfait – These are so colorful and gorgeous, mom will be floored when she sees them. Layer colorful fruits, crunchy granola, and yogurt in a clear bowl or champagne flute.
• Pancakes – Pancakes are super simple, especially if you just use a mix. You probably need to supervise younger kids, but everyone will have fun measuring, pouring, and flipping.
• Fruit Skewers – Get pre-cut fruit from the grocery store or have the kids clean it while you chop it. Have the kids put them on bamboo skewers. Boom.
