The wrong dressing can ruin your salad

You can create the most delicious and nutritious salad thinking it is a sure way to help lose weight but by adding the wrong type of dressing to that salad, you can derail all of your intentions. The best way to keep your salad on track is to either make your own salad dressing or make sure to purchase one that fares better than most store-bought brands.

If you are buying a salad dressing:

Stick to a Non-GMO bottled dressing with less than 5 grams of sugar per serving and make sure it contains some fat which will help you absorb the nutrients in the salad.

If you want to make a salad dressing:

Basic Vinaigrette Ratio & Ingredients

The traditional French vinaigrette formula calls for 1 tablespoon vinegar for every 3 tablespoons olive oil.

Ingredients

Olive oil for your base

Vinegar of choice

Dijon mustard for some flavor complexity and creaminess

Maple syrup or honey for a little sweetness that balances the vinegar

Garlic for oomph

Salt and pepper
