Overcoming exercise obstacles

For anyone who is overweight or lives a sedentary lifestyle, the thought of beginning an exercise program of any kind can be especially challenging. For people carrying extra weight, certain exercises may be too difficult or physically uncomfortable to perform. But there are options to help get you moving in the direction of a healthier weight and lifestyle.
How much exercise should you try: The American Heart Association recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes every week of moderate exercise, or 75 minutes every week of vigorous exercise. That can be broken down into 30 minutes of exercise, five days a week. But experts agree that getting any amount of physical activity is preferable to none.
What exercises to try: Here are some ideas offered by physical fitness experts that are especially helpful to those of us who are carrying some extra weight.
