Coping with loss over the holidays

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one this year it may become difficult to participate in all the normal festivities. Communicating your emotional state to friends and family is not only helpful but it may be necessary say experts. A good place to start is to set expectations for yourself and your family. It’s all right to tell people you just ‘aren’t up to it’ this year or to change plans at the last minute.
The holidays are especially difficult as we almost always remember loved ones who have celebrated with us in the past but are no longer here. Nevertheless, grief does usually soften and change over time and the holidays will become easier to handle. For now, communication may help to navigate the emotional roller coaster ride that the holidays usually bring,
