One simple way to connect more with your emotional self is to schedule time to reflect and ask yourself how you feel every day. Five to ten minutes of calm introspection and questioning your feelings can make a big difference in how well connected you are to your emotional self.
We often see our emotions as part of the “background” of everyday life – so taking the time to make them your main focus can be a very healthy and refreshing thing to do.
Ask yourself, “What am I feeling right now? Why do I feel that way?” The simple act of thinking about your emotions can make them less intense and give you more clarity and perspective.
Experts agree that when you reflect on your emotions, you also can learn more about them and how you can better manage them in the future. If a certain habit always leads to negative emotions, you can consider ways to change the habit to better serve you.
