Planting a garden in late summer means you can harvest fresh produce well into fall and sometimes even into winter. And another bonus is when the weather cools it makes tending to a garden seem more like a delight rather than a chore. A few vegetables that grow well when planted in late summer are beets, carrots, radishes, broccoli, cabbage, kale and spinach.
