It’s official, El Paso will be under extreme heat warnings this week. While exercise is important, taking extra caution during these particularly hot days is an absolute priority. Here are things to remember when the temperature breaks the 100-degree mark.
8 Tips for Working Out in the Heat
• Take a cold shower before you workout.
• Stay hydrated with the RIGHT fluids: Electrolyte balanced beverages, water.
• Wear light clothing.
• Don't forget the sunscreen.
• Timing is everything: Early mornings, late evenings are best
• Get your workout at the nearest swimming pool or an indoor gym
• Know your limits: If you begin to feel lightheaded, nauseous or weak, stop and cool down immediately.
