Springtime may bring the need to relieve skin problems such as eczema, sunburn and poison ivy. Many people swear by oatmeal as a way of relieving itchy, irritated skin. This homemade oatmeal mask for your skin reduces inflammation and irritation.
Here’s the science behind it: The key chemical ingredient here is avenanthramides, which are known to have anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to helping the swelling go down, oatmeal will also soothe any itching or irritation you have.
Ingredients:
1 bowl of organic, steel-cut oatmeal
Warm water
Instructions:
Add the water to your bowl of oatmeal and mix until you have a thick paste.
Apply the paste gently to the affected areas.
Allow it to dry.
Remove gently and apply moisturizer to your skin.
