Spending time outdoors, especially in green spaces is an effective way to improve your health and happiness. In fact, it has been shown to lower stress, blood pressure and heart rate while encouraging physical activity and elevating your mood and mental health. Some research even suggests that a little time spent in a green space is associated with a lower risk of developing psychiatric disorders. A recent study published in the International Journal of Environmental Health adds to the evidence. It shows that spending 30 minutes in a park or yard, even if you don’t exercise while you’re there, is enough to improve well-being according to the research.
