Excuse me, I need to burpee!

Excuse me, I need to burpee!

Certain exercises come into fashion as the ‘must do’ fitness trend. At the moment, we are hearing a lot of talk about burpees which, contrary to what it sounds like, is not an infant with gas.

The burpee, a squat thrust with an additional stand between reps, is a full body exercise used in strength training and as an aerobic exercise. The basic movement is performed in four steps and known as a "four-count burpee;”

Begin in a standing position.

1. Move into a squat position with your hands on the ground. (count 1)

2. Kick your feet back into a plank position, while keeping your arms extended. (count 2)

3. Immediately return your feet into squat position. (count 3)

4. Stand up from the squat position (count 4)
