Summer and swimming go hand in hand – but if you are not the most confident in the water, we have some tips for you: For beginner swimmers, it's crucial to start with the basics like getting comfortable in the water, learning to float, and mastering proper breathing techniques. Focus on building a strong foundation through short, consistent practice sessions, gradually increasing the intensity and duration as you improve. Consider taking lessons to learn proper swimming techniques and safety procedures
Here's a step by step guide:
• Get Comfortable in the Water: Start by getting used to the feeling of water on your body, gradually moving from the shallow end to deeper areas.
• Float: Learn to float on your back and front, focusing on relaxing your body and breathing smoothly.
• Breathe: Practice controlled breathing, exhaling completely underwater and inhaling with a smooth, steady motion.
• Build Basic Swimming Skills: Practice kicking with your legs, focusing on keeping your body in a streamline position. Start with simple arm strokes like the freestyle or backstroke, focusing on proper technique and coordination.
• Practice: Begin with one or two 30-minute sessions per week to build confidence and avoid overwhelming yourself.
• Warm-up: Always start with a warm-up, such as low-intensity swimming or light stretching.
• Seek Professional Guidance: Consider taking swimming lessons from a qualified instructor to learn proper techniques and safety procedures.
