Estar físicamente activo puede ayudar a combatir el cáncer de próstata, prevenir la recurrencia y ayudar a controlar los efectos secundarios del tratamiento.
Cuando la mayoría de los hombres piensan en actividad física o ejercicio, pueden imaginarse correr, máquinas de pesas y gimnasios. Sin embargo, existen muchas actividades que califican como actividad física. Algunos incluyen caminar, hacer jardinería, bailar o incluso jugar con los nietos. Si le hace respirar más fuerte y su corazón late más rápido, probablemente sea ejercicio.
Se recomienda que los hombres realicen al menos 150 minutos de actividad de intensidad moderada cada semana, o 30 minutos 5 días a la semana.
Las actividades físicas moderadas incluyen:
• Caminar rápidamente (aproximadamente 3 ½ millas por hora o mph)
• Andar en bicicleta (a menos de 10 mph)
• Jardinería general (rastrillar, podar arbustos)
• Baile
• Golf (caminar y llevar palos)
• Tenis (dobles)
Las actividades físicas más vigorosas incluyen:
• Correr/trotar (5 mph)
• Caminar rápido (4 ½ mph)
• Andar en bicicleta (más de 10 mph)
• Natación (vueltas estilo libre)
• Baloncesto (competitivo)
• Tenis (individuales)
