Journaling is a mindful practice that has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. And, since a journal is simply a personal reflection of your life, there is no right and wrong way to do it. When it comes to creating your journal, there are no rules.

Need some inspiration to start your journal? Try this:

  • Write one sentence every day. (You can even start by writing one word every day.)
  • The next time you pause to write a to-do list or a tweet or to check your email, take ten extra seconds to jot down one single thought you've had so far today.
  • If you do not like writing, or have trouble putting your words down on paper, cut images out of magazines, copies passages from books, fortune cookie messages, anything that resonates with you.
  • Before long, you will have a journal that is uniquely yours and a record of your life’s journey.
