Spring in El Paso may be the most important planting season of the year. The time and climate are right for you to consider planting the seeds (or plants) now for an awesome homegrown salad come summer. If you have ever grown fruits or vegetables in your garden and help them ripen into a wonderful ingredient to use in your cooking, you know how satisfying it can be. If you haven’t, why not find out how green your thumb is by planting something delicious this season. Here are some of the vegetables you can plant in El Paso’s climate. Now, for all the summer vegetables like beans, cowpeas, corn, squashes, pumpkins, cucumbers, watermelons, gourds and sunflowers, you should plant those seeds directly into the ground around March 22, or if your soil is still very cold, once the soil is near 60° F in temperature.
