Know thy ‘shelf’

Know thy ‘shelf’

If you are in need of a little creative boost, we suggest you work on your shelf.Sometimes taking a break from television, video games and whatever other diversion you have relied on to keep your sanity can be rewarding in itself. But, if you want a sure-fire way to get your mind thinking, juices flowing, and your face smiling try designing one shelf in your home or apartment. You can:

  • Hunt around your home and group similar objects either by theme or by color
  • Create a ‘scene’ or tell a story through your objects
  • Artfully arrange the shelf – pretend you are a window dresser in an old-fashioned department store.
  • Use varying sizes of objects to create depth and interest,
  • If you are grouping items, use groups three or five
  • Artists, creative types that work in advertising and related fields have long used this technique to channel their creative energy. At the very least, you will have curated your very own mini-museum.
